Our research projects are currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute. We also have several collaborations within the Medical University of South Carolina and with researchers from institutions across the US. We have three goals:
1. To understand how mitochondrial dysfunction affects embryonic development and aging.
2. To understand how gene-environment interactions modulate mitochondrial disease.
3. To develop novel therapeutic agents for mitochondrial dysfunction.
